Verizon Early Cancellation Fees $350

Verizon Just announced that the plan to SLAM customers who leave before their contract is up with Early Termination Fees of up to $350. This is more than double of their previous Verizon early termination fee of $175.

The pure Greed of the big carriers is starting to show through. Just last year Verizon was forced to pay $21 Million to settle a class action lawsuit from consumers in California. The main allegation of the Verizon lawsuit was that under California law these ETF’s and fees are deemed illegal and unfair business practices, used to forced consumers into long-term contracts.

Obviously Verizon has not learned their lesson as they are up to their old tricks. Now at least Verizon early termination fee is lessened by a paltry $10 per month of service during your contract. Here is where the Greed Monster yet again rears its ugly head. If you cancel in the 23rd month of your 24 month contract you will still be Charged a Verizon Early Termination Fee of $110!

Are you kidding me? 30 days later my contract is over and you can walk for free. However if you cancel in your 2nd last month Verizon wants to ding you for 30% of the Full Fee still.

So if you want to go to the big boys for convenience, security and brand recognition, go ahead and enjoy. After all you can have it, just be prepared to play by all their dirty rules and fine print. Oh ya and keep $350 near by just in case someone from Verizon’s early termination fee department calls and says 1 of their kid’s needs braces or a new bike.
